Dear Parents,
Stride Academy and Compass Learning are programs that support what I am teaching in the classroom. Every year the school is spending thousands of dollars on these great programs but most of our students are not utilizing them on a daily basis. After speaking with staff and students, we decided to attach a grade to the minutes they are on there.
Starting today students are expected to work on Stride Academy for 60 mins. a week (20 min. a day) for their homework grade in ELA (reading). Compass Learning will take the place of their research grade. Student are expected to complete 60 mins. a week (20 min. a day). I explain to the students it doesn't matter how they split up their minutes, the goal is to have 60 by the end of the week.
Stride/Compass Learning Rubric
A........55-60 min
B........40-54 min
C........20-39 min
D........10-19 min
F........9-below
Quizlet is a new program that I have discover and the children love it. They agreed to work on Quizlet on the weekends for 15-20 min which would be apart of their writing grade for grammar.
To keep students motivated students will be apart of a Junior High Competition. Not sure of the details yet but I will keep you updated.
Parents feel free to email me suggested!
