Monthly Poem "October"

October

BY ROBERT FROST
O hushed October morning mild,
Thy leaves have ripened to the fall;
Tomorrow’s wind, if it be wild,
Should waste them all.

The crows above the forest call;
Tomorrow they may form and go.
O hushed October morning mild,
Begin the hours of this day slow.
Make the day seem to us less brief.

Hearts not averse to being beguiled,
Beguile us in the way you know.
Release one leaf at break of day;
At noon release another leaf;
One from our trees, one far away.

Retard the sun with gentle mist;
Enchant the land with amethyst.
Slow, slow!
For the grapes’ sake, if they were all,
Whose leaves already are burnt with frost,
Whose clustered fruit must else be lost—
For the grapes’ sake along the wall.

It's Science Fair Time!!!

Dear Parents,

It is Science Fair Time! The Science Fair an important part of your student(s) education and required school-wide project. Students must complete a scientific experiment and NOT just a simple demonstration. An experiment usually occurs over time and takes multiple trials to complete. A big component of the Science Fair Projects is the display. Students should have a standard size tri-fold display board. This can be purchased at any teacher or office supply store. All components must be typed and displayed on the board along with pictures and charts.

Following the attached time line will keep your student(s) on tract and insure that your students has correctly completed the necessary steps and can move forward to the next component. Middle School students are urged to put effort into their idea and hypothesis formation, because it is the basis to create a workable experiment. Attached are some helpful documents that will help when completing the project.

·      All science fair projects are due October 15, 2014.
·      Classroom presentations also begin October 15, 2014.
·      The School-wide Science Fair is held on Oct 24, 2014.

Winners will move forward. We encourage all students to be committed to their Science Fair Projects and do their very best. They are the future inventors and scientists.

Thank You,

Junior High Team

Welcome to Junior High!

                                                        Welcome to room 116

I’m so glad you’re here!
I made you a little goodie bag
to help kick off  a great new year.

The eraser is to remind you
that it is ok to make mistakes
We’ll work & learn together
No matter what it takes.

The stickers mean we’ll stick together
and work hard as a team.

The puzzle piece shows how we fit
working together towards a common theme.

The bookmark is to show you
You always have a place
If you ever feel a little lost
We’ll help you find your space.

The Smarties to remind you
how smart I think you are
Work hard & do your very best
Remember to aim far.

The Lifesaver is to show you
that even if things get rough along the way
your friends & I are here to lend a hand
each and every day.

The pencil represents the
work that we will do
it may get a little tough
But we’ll have tons of fun too!

The Laffy Taffy to keep you laughing
as with hard work comes lots of fun
remember to always keep smiling
and in the end we’ll all have won.

The Starburst is to show you
that in my eyes you are a STAR
Do your best, try your hardest
& stay just the way you are!

Love,
Ms. Arnold

Monthly Poem "September"

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I –
I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference
